Here is the video that started a school-wide discussion about Sardis Secondary and what is means to be a student here. Our leadership class has been talking about this for years and now the whole school is involved in the conversation. Don't miss out!
We know we have a great school and there are many great things that go on around here every day. We want to articulate what we value as a school community and then be intentional about promoting these attributes to make our school even better than it is…to improve on a great place! We want to hear what students value about SSS. This activity is going to be followed by a student forum in January to expand on the feedback from the video. This information will inform the staff discussions on our Pro-d Day on January 18. From that day we hope to have some cornerstone values and the beginning of a plan to promote them.
The video ends with the question: What does it mean to be a Falcon? That is, what does it take to be a contributing member of our school community. Here are some prompting questions that can help you expand and explain what we want students to respond to and keep the conversation going:
· What does being a positive member of SSS mean?
· What are you proud of?
· What does it look like to be proud of your school?
· How do you want the community to see us?
· Does being a Sardis Falcon stop at the end of the day?
· How do you want others to see you, know you?
· What does an SSS student look like?
· When students are new to our school, what would you want their first impression to be?
· What could we do to help guests feel welcome in our school?
· This falcon is a symbol of? (liberty, freedom, victory, therefore symbolizes hope; symbol for success, victory, rising above a situation)
If you want to be more involved in this discussion, please email or talk to Mr.Sutcliffe about it in January.
Mr. Sutcliffe is at home with his leg up hoping that everyone is having a good end to the week at school and has a great relaxing Christmas vacation.
Congratulations to all groups for a successful series of projects this fall!
Reminder that you have some things to hand in before the break...
1) Group binder
2) Personal Timeline
3) Peer Evaluation
4) Self Evaluation
When we get back from the break, we will brainstorm new projects for Jan-March and form new groups. We will meet in the theatre for the first couple of classes at least. Start thinking about what you want to do and come with good ideas!
It won't let me upload the other intro video because it is over 100 MB. If you want to see it or would like a copy, please let me know.

"Generation:Hero" - How to overcome personal pain and setbacks, and wake up to what you can do in the world around you.
It is easy to see that there is something unique and exciting about this emerging generation of young people. They are full of limitless opportunities and potential, yet so many of them are held back and unable to pursue their dreams because of obstacles that have gotten in their way. Drawing parallels from her own personal journey and those of some of our friends at Live Different, Christal will invite, challenge, and inspire your students to begin to identify some of the mindsets that keep them from moving forward, and how to cross that hidden boundary.
Someone asked me to post the Sports Promo video from last years' assembly. Check it out...
From what I hear, this years video is going to be even better!
Fun times had by all..
Check out the pictures using the menu at the top, although I still would like to add some from Orange's camera :)
See everyone on the first day of school (Tuesday) in the dance studio!
