Run for Cherish 10/24/2011
The event was a success and very well-organized. Not as big a group as previous years, but a beautiful day outside for a run/walk! Everyone that was there enjoyed the afternoon. Thanks to everyone in leadership that helped out with some part of this event. Please give me some pictures (or send them by em Leadership Opportunity (at UFV) 10/17/2011
Therefore, we decided to host another youth event at UFV on Saturday, October 22, 2011in Abbotsford, 8:30am – 12:00pm in room B121 The event will be different this time. The event will discuss one topic which is: What opportunities available for youth to get involved in? We are bringing eight organizations that specialize in Development (locally and internationally), to come and talk to youth about what they can get involved in. Some of the organizations that will be presenting at the event are: · Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) · Project Abroad · United Way · Canada World Youth · Oxfam International · Amnesty International · Free the Children · Hunger Response · Food for the Hungry We believe that this event will be the first step for youth to create a change. The event will be a great empowerment for youth. The youth benefits will be: · To participate and present their ideas of projects and involvements to these organizations · To learn about youth leadership opportunities · To network with organizations that specialize in development · To connect with other youth in the Fraser Valley · To explore and develop their capacity for leadership · To engage with the world in new ways. · To provide tangible benefits for local communities and around the world. · To connect with youth in developing countries through video conferences We are working on empowering the youth by giving them an opportunity to get involved. We can NOT do it alone. We do not have a direct contact with the youth; however, you as a teacher and educator can help us get the youth involved, and get the message to them. Please pass this invitation to your students and together lets empower the youth more. The event is FREE. The first 70 students, who register for the event, will enter a draw for an IPOD. But they must act now. We have room for only 100 people, so please ask them to go to www.D4NG.com and register today. Link on School Website 10/11/2011
